Sofabook, based in Lincoln, is a retailer of new and used chairs, sofas and three piece suites. They approached Malinky Media to develop a bespoke ecommerce solution to sell their ever expanding product range online.
Following a successful period selling sofas on eBay, Sofabook wished to begin selling products on their own website. Malinky Media were asked to develop an ecommerce website and content management system, and to also advise on the most economical shopping cart and processing method to accept online payments.
The solution included the storefront design, back end web development, a content management system and the online payment solution.
The shop storefront was designed to keep it simple and intuitive for customers. It divided the website into two main areas; clearance and exclusive sofas. A three click strategy made it quick and easy for customers to make and complete a purchase.
The content management system allowed Sofabook staff to add, edit and remove product information from the live website. This system was designed specifically for the client's requirements to compliment the nature of the products they were selling.
The shopping cart was built using Roman Cart and the payment system, Sage Pay. Both of these packages are fully customisable, delivering a seamless integration with the main website. By using Sage Pay, the client benefited from greater profits than they had previously experienced from using Paypal.
Sofabook has been successfully trading online for over a year and the majority of their business goes through the website rather than eBay. The website has saved them time when it comes to product management and money through payment processing fees.
